I love dashlane. My only problem now is, it isn’t working the same on my new laptop as it did on my old one. I can’s seem to get autofill to work. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

    • Ashley

      Hi Barbara,

Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you’re enjoying our app!

If the autofill has stopped working, then you’ll need to check your extension. Here’s how: http://ow.ly/X3SL9.

If you need help, our support team can help you. So they have the necessary info, please create a ticket for them here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. They’ll get you sorted out.

      • Christophe

Hi Ashley, I am great fan of Dashlane and I do share its benefits with many of my friends and impose it to my own children and relatives!
However, I have the same frustration than some of the people running on Windows 10. The world is made of billions of PCs and at least 200 millions of those running Windows 10. I am aware that Microsoft is yet to release the plugins / add-ons integration. This should be imminent now though. We hope that you will now focus on Windows and bring the application 4.x compatible with all my Windows 10 devices and especially Windows Mobile 10.
Further, as I am working with a very large organisation, I am also looking forward to see the Enterprise features you may bring. As a french IT person I would love to participate in Beta program on the subject. If you can find an email of whom I can talk to about the security features of Dashlane so as to convince my security team.

        • Ashley

          Hi Christophe,

Thanks for your comment and support – we appreciate it!

Would you mind emailing community(at)dashlane(dot)com, so I can put you in touch with the appropriate person? I’ll also add you to our Enterpries beta. It’s not up and running yet, but I’ll put you on the list for when it is.

          Thanks!
          Ashley

  • Jeremy Johnson

Looks pretty, but you still haven’t added the most important feature. What good is having TouchID if after 24hours (or a forced quit of the app) I have to re-enter my password? I get that you don’t think I can remember my password so you want me to enter it every single time I use it, but I promise I can. Please, PLEASE add an option to allow TouchID to always unlock the app. Every other financial app I use has this feature now.

    • Ashley

      Hi Jeremy,

      Thanks for your comment!

You shouldn’t be asked for your Master Password more than once every two weeks when you’re using TouchID in Dashlane. We can’t change the time limit – it’s not just for your memory, it’s for your security.

Would you mind creating a support ticket for this? That will greatly help us figure out what’s causing the issue, so we can fix it. Here’s where you can create a ticket: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Also, if you’d like to be part of our beta group on iOS, please let our support team know and they’ll send you an invite.

      Hope you enjoy the update!

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • criznag

Can you elaborate on how it’s for our security? Honestly it’s some of the major annoyances of the app, and seems to come up when you need the app the most or are in a hurry (murphys law I guess) – maybe a warning as to when it will need to be rest would be nice? Otherwise, seriously, how is it for security? Is the thought someone will steal your fingerprints if they stole your phone (and you didn’t wipe it already remotely) or chop your fingers off?

        • Ashley

          Hi,

I asked the experts on this one, and I was mistaken. Sorry about that!

We require the Master Password every two weeks because a significant amount of people do forget it. And, since you can’t reset your Master Password, having you re-enter it protects the integrity of your data (by nature of you being able to access it).

That said, this is why we have the 2 week limit as a default. But that doesn’t prevent us from allowing you to set an infinite time limit, so you never have to enter your Master Password and always use TouchID.

I’m sorry for my confusion, and I’ve submitted a feature request to our iOS team to allow users to specify their time limit. We’ll also continue to work on the bugs related to TouchID. So, if you (or others in the comments) haven’t done so, please let our team know when you encounter issues. It greatly helps us resolve them!

          Thanks,
          Ashley

      • Jeremy Johnson

When you say “can’t change the time limit” does that mean there’s a technical issue involved? I have not experienced that same limitation on several other apps. I guess I just don’t buy the statement that it’s somehow for my security. I’d claim entering my master password in a public place — the only time I use Dashlane on my phone — is far less secure than using my fingerprint.

I’ll definitely be sending a ticket. I’ve never gotten more than a few minutes of time before having to reenter my password. I thought it was supposed to be 24-hours, but if it’s 2 weeks I’m not even close to getting that.

        • Ashley

          Hi Jeremy,

          See my comment below.

I chatted with the team about it. I was wrong, sorry. We can technically do this. So, I’ve submitted a feature request to our iOS team & we’ll keep working on those bugs.

          Sorry about that!

          Thanks,
          Ashley

      • Erik Tobiassen

I’m sorry to say this, but Dashlane for mobile is not convenient. I guess most of us use a pretty complex master password, in addition to two-factor, and being forced to re-enter master password and two-factor every time you need a password is just not practical.

My subscription just ended a couple of days ago, and I’m not sure I will be buying this for another year. I do love Dashlane and its design, but for me, this is not working.

You talk about security, and I get that, but as other people are saying, typing your password in a public area vs using Touch ID is far less secure. When my bank trusts Touch ID for logging into my accounts, Dashlane should let me do the same. At least make it a choice!

If anything, it makes me want to create easier passwords so I don’t need to log into Dashlane.

I am hoping you will listen to your users and get this right.

        • Ashley

          Hi Erik,

          Thanks for sharing your feedback!

See my comments below for more info on TouchID. Hopefully they reassure you that we do listen to our users till we get it right!

          Thanks,
          Ashley

  • Shawn Stott

Where is the universal win10 app?

    • Ashley

      Hi Shawn,

We’re compatible with Windows 10, but we don’t have a universal app yet. We’d love to build one, but it hasn’t made it to our (packed) roadmap, so it’s going to be a while. Sorry, I know that’s not fun news πŸ™

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • Shawn Stott

I ask because I love Dashlane, but in the enterprise my company uses LastPass because they literally support every device that each of our departments use, this makes them have full coverage. Windows (10 or whatever) is the most popular desktop workstation choice for most enterprise companies in my industry, the lack of a fully supported native app for this platform keeps my company (at this time anyway) from considering Dashlane for their enterprise needs. Moot point though seeing as how you stated it isn’t in the roadmap, just wish it was.

        Thanks.

        • Ashley

I hear you, and I appreciate you taking the time to share that extra info. It’s always helpful for us to understand the use-case. Though I can’t share the specifics, we do have plans to make Dashlane more robust for enterprise use. I will definitely share your feedback with our product and business teams for consideration!

      • RoyerMan

I’m with Shawn: where’s the universal application for Windows. there’s so much more value to a Windows Universal app than automatic compatibility to Windows Phone 10 (this is my personal pain point with Dashlane) such as better tablet experience, better power management, etc.

        • Ashley

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. I will also add your +1 for a universal Windows app.

      • Gian

Even with LastPass providing a Universal App, roboform supporting every platform (windows 10, iOS, OSX, Android, windows phone, etc) Dashlane doesn’t even have a UWP on the roadmap? I love Dashlane, but that’s a big bummer for me and motivation to use LastPass or RoboForm instead

        • Ashley

Thanks, Gian. I know it’s a bummer. Will add your +1 for a universal Windows app, and fingers crossed we can get it on the roadmap!

  • joed32

Will it now work on a Chromebook?

    • Ashley

      Hi Joe,

No Chromebook support just yet, but we haven’t forgotten about you.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • joed32

Using it on my Windows computers and like it but I have 2 Chromebooks in the house as well.

  • Andrew J Mills

I love Dashlane and have become known in our office as a Dashlane fanboy! I even have my parents using it! That said, a while back I asked if you could have a look at allowing PDF’s be attached to notes. Having details for a passport is great but having a PDF of it is way better considering all the biometric info in the barcodes. Also I would be able to upload my wills etc. Any thoughts on this or if it is ever going to be considered? Thanks and again love the product.

    • Ashley

      Hi Andrew,

Thanks for your support – we really appreciate it πŸ™‚

We’ve considered attachments and agree they’d be a useful addition to Dashlane. They haven’t made their way to our (packed) roadmap yet, but I’ll share your use-case with our team for the next time this discussion comes up! Having great use-cases like you shared always helps us prioritize better.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • Andrew J Mills

Ashley, Thanks for the quick response. One other item for your roadmap….As much as I like being able to assign people emergency access to my account there is a case of hoping that person an find that email in a crisis situation. I would love to see the ability to assign a “guardian” to the digital safe. You would be able to set a time period that after you had not logged in for 3/7/10/14 days it would send an email to your guardian granting access. As a business person who travels a lot (as do my parents), it would be nice to know that if the worst happens my wife can access everything easily in one place. You could call it the “Guardian Angel” feature!!

        • Ashley

Inactivity as a trigger…that’s interesting. Thanks for sharing, Andrew! Will add it to the list for the team!

  • Laurel2053 .

Is the new Dashlane 4 going to work with the Kindle Fire? Currently it doesn’t.

  • QatarGirl

Will Dashlane ever work on iPhones without going through the “Dashlane browser”? I want to open the Chrome/Safari app on my phone and have Dashlane work just as it does on desktop.

  • Bob McConnell

Tried to use the Safari link to login to Amazon (which is a simple login), but I have two Amazon accounts. Selected the one I wanted and got the other. Several tries, no change.

    • Ashley

      Hi Bob,

Yeesh. Sorry for the trouble! With issues like that, it’s best to create a support ticket for our team. Then they can ask/gather the info they need to fix it. (Otherwise, we just have a nasty bug in our product with few leads on a solution). Mind creating a ticket for them here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

I hope you enjoy the new update!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • Paul

Great. Could you now focus on team sharing? I would be nice if this feature became usable.

    • Ashley

Thanks for your feedback, Paul! We do plan to give sharing some love this year, so you can look out for that πŸ™‚

  • gunste24

I do not see an alphabet to get you to your selected site without scrolling through the entire collection checking for the password in “Windermere”.
Also, I hope Dashlane fixed the automatic bringing up of you own ID and Password, when you have to enter an address or phone number.

    • http://garyjones.co.uk/ Gary Jones

In Passwords, in the top right, select Name, and then Collapse All to see all of the letter categories.

Or just hit CMD-F (on Mac), and start typing to jump straight to it. That will nearly always be quicker than scrolling through a (long) alphabetical list.

  • gunste24

Will Dashlane 4 be an automatic update for Premium users?

    • http://garyjones.co.uk/ Gary Jones

Seems to be, yes. I’m Premium, and just auto-updated very smoothly.

  • Rick

I have Dashlane installed on 3 computers and 2 Android devices. It takes some time to install upgrades on each. I won’t have time to just drop everything and upgrade 5 devices to Dashlane 4 all at once. Once I have upgraded to Dashlane 4 on one device, will my password database be altered in a way such that it won’t work on devices not yet upgraded?

    • Ashley

      Hi Rick,

Dashlane will update automatically on your computers, so no need to manually process it. You might just have to wait for the update to reach you (most happen within the first 24 hours of us releasing them). It’s the same for mobile if you have auto-updates turned on. In any case, Dashlane 4 will work just fine with older versions of Dashlane. Your passwords won’t be altered in any way.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • Rick

Are you sure? Now that you mention it I do recall that the two Android devices update automatically, but my 3 computers — two Windows 7 and one Windows 10 — do not. A window comes up giving me the opportunity to install each update now or later, and whenever I do install I have to close Chrome, where I get my email, find phone numbers, etc., so I can’t get other work done for 15 minutes or so until the update process is complete. So that’s not automatic. Right now I’m on Build 3.6.0.97092.

        • Ashley

          Hi Rick,

I confirmed with our devs before we launched, but I’m going to check again and get back. Sorry for the delay!

My understanding of how our updates work is this:

-Best case: You restart your computer within the first 2 weeks of us shipping, and you’re updated automatically.
-Second best: You restart your browser at any point within the first two weeks of us shipping, and you’re updated automatically.
-Last resort: Dashlane will wait up to two weeks before asking you to process the update where you have to force-close your browser.

In any case, we both want certainty, so we can tell if there’s an issue that needs attention. I’ll be in touch as soon as I get confirmation!

          Thanks!
          Ashley

  • Karel

If you have more than couple notes, it is really unpleasant to browse them (to say the least). In list view, I think you are wasting about 50% of the vertical space. The icon is totally useless, and so is all the padding. I would love that you design this view for people that actually have quite some notes.

I don’t need to preview the content of the note. If it is Master password protected, an icon might be enough. I really just care for the title. And I would much prefer to be able to see as many notes as possible in the list.

Hope it will be heard. Thanks!

    • Ashley

Thanks for sharing your feedback, Karel! I’ll pass your feedback along to our product and design team for consideration. Hope you’re enjoying the update!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • Karel

Thanks for the follow-up. Looks good so far. If I can add an advice (I also develop applications) you should stay away from action that are visible when hovering with the mouse. It requires too much cognitive load (you need to parse where the password is, mouse over, process the button appearing, readjust the mouse cursor, click). I often use the “Copy” feature and you made that a lot harder πŸ™‚

        • Ashley

Interesting feedback on the new UX! I’m going to share it with our product team. Thanks for taking the time to share!

  • Jack Morgan

Stop me if you’ve heard this one before:

Just extended my existing Premium Dashlane 3 account for 3 years. How do I update to Dashlane 4?

    • http://garyjones.co.uk/ Gary Jones

On Mac, Dashlane Menu -> Check for Updates. Probably equivalent actions on other platforms.

Are there any plans for some type of Linux support in the near future?

    • Ashley

I’m afraid I can’t give specifics on this – though, I would love to because Linux is such a popular request. All I can say is, we’re working on it, and I hope you’ll stick around to see what we come up with πŸ™‚

  • Matt

The redesigns are great but it seems the biggest complaint is availability. Still waiting for a Linux client myself. The web option for premium isnt a good solution either, being read only and offering none of the speed or ease of use a native client or browser plugin does.

    • Ashley

      Hi Matt,

We hear you. We’re currently working on a solution for this. As I mentioned in another comment, I can’t give details/dates from our roadmap. But I do hope you’ll stick around and see what we come up with!

      Thanks!
      Ashley

  • Axel

I just upgraded and it correctly detected the countries of previously added my credit cards. How do you guys get that info? Because now when I add a new one, I have to select the country where it was issued manually.

    • Ashley

      Hi Axel,

Interesting question! I want to say it’s going by the associated billing address (perhaps the postal code), but I need to check with our dev team. Will get back to you!

      Thanks!
      Ashley

  • Marc King

Ashley — I still cant get my iPhone to log into anything — I have done all the things the techs have recommended but still no luck — works great on the computer but the phone and iPad are a bust — got anything?

    • warrenzunino

Add me to this list. I have read the instructions for iPad and it is painfully awkward. Hoping this will be addressed.

      • Ashley

        Hi Warren,

See my response above to Marc. Same goes for you… We’ll get to the bottom of it. Sorry for the trouble!

        Thanks!
        Ashely

    • Ashley

      Hi Marc,

      Sorry for the trouble!

Do you have an old ticket number that I can revive and escalate? If so, please share it with me. Otherwise, please create a new one here & send me the ticket number: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. (If you prefer to use Twitter, you can DM the ticket number or your email to me on Twitter @Dashlane).

Sorry to send you back through the ticket loop, but it’s much easier/faster for us to find a resolution if we have all the background info versus starting from scratch.

Rest assured, we’ll get to the bottom of it!

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • Marc King

Request #151799 — Is this number you are asking for?

        • Ashley

          That’s the one, thank you!

  • David Martin

I finally was able to use Dashlane on two of my computers (both Lenovo desktops) running Windows 10 by connecting through Google. Unfortunately, I am still not able to use Dashlane on my HP laptop even though I have designated Google as the primary browser and have checked my Dashlane extension in Chrome. Any guidance to resolve would be appreciated.

    • Ashley

      Hi David,

Sorry for the trouble! I’m afraid I don’t have any tricks up my sleeve for this, but our support team can help. Please create a ticket for them here (the more details, the better): https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. We’ll get it sorted out!

      Thanks!

  • Charlie

Does version 4 work in MS Edge?

  • Alex

I really like this app but I just can’t justify paying over 3x more than your biggest competitor. Are you running any promotions with this new version to cut the cost some?

    • Ashley

      Hi Alex,

      Thanks for your comment!

We don’t have any promos running at this time, but there’s always our referral program: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/articles/202665962-Does-Dashlane-have-a-referral-program-.

Also, one thing I mentioned in the blog that people sometimes miss is that while we’re subscription-based, our updates are always free. You’re always running the latest/best of what we have, whether you use Dashlane free on once device or go Premium to add unlimited devices.

      Hope that helps!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • MDC

Does it work with Chrome on iOS?

    • Ashley

Currently, we just work with Safari on iOS. But I’ll pass along your request!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • MDC

is there a timeline for rolling that out?

        • Ashley

          Hi MDC,

We’re investigating this now, and it’s too early to tell. Unfortunately, we can’t comfortably say when it’ll roll out.

If you’re not already in the iOS beta group, this would be a great reason to join! You’ll be the first to know and use this feature when it’s ready. Our support team can add you if you get in touch with them here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

          Thanks!
          Ashley

  • MarthaT

Any chance you will ever support Chrome OS? I love Dashlane and use it at work, but I use a chromebook at home and Dashlane is useless there. Going to have to start looking for a new product that actually works on ALL my devices, but if it’s on the horizon I’ll be happy to wait.

    • MDC

I feel the same way as per my question below. It is frustrating (dare I say absurd) that it does not work on Chrome on an iOS device. I was hoping to get an update as well. I have to assume a large percentage of their users have iOS devices and do not like Safari.

    • Ashley

      Hi Martha,

Thanks for your comment! I can’t give away specifics, but we do have it in the plans to solve for availability issues. It’s on the horizon, so I hope you’ll stick around to see what we come up with πŸ™‚

      Thanks!

Is there any way to keep Dashlane installed 24/7 on Safari? It seems I have to constantly reinstall it, but it will only do it after I install something from Safari extensions like ad block. When I click on Dashlane and then install browser extensions for Safari, nothing happens until I go to and install something from Safari extensions.

    • Ashley

      Hi Kristofer,

      Sorry for the trouble!

You shouldn’t have to reinstall the extension that often. Even if we update it, it updates itself automatically when you restart your browser (and if you never close your browser, it’ll ask you to after a couple weeks). It’s best for our support and tech team to investigate this, so we can get this solved properly. Would you mind creating a ticket here (the more info, the better): https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. We’ll get it sorted!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • Ty Harrop

I just want it to work more consistently. I know I’m not alone in saying that it tends to just stop working (stop adding any PWs or autofill) after a week or two. I’m getting tired of having to reinstall it & reboot just to use it.

    • Ashley

      Hi Ty,

Thanks for your feedback, and sorry for the trouble. If the issue is auto-saving password and autofilling them on the web, then this is an issue with the extension. That’s best for our support and tech team to sort out, so they can fix it properly. If you haven’t yet, please create a ticket for them, so we can gather all the necessary info to fix: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. We’ll get it sorted.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

      • Ty Harrop

Unfortunately I’ve already done this and they were unable to find a fix other than asking that I continue to reinstall the extension.

    • Mark M

agree. I’ve had to reboot my computer to get it to work several times. Also it does not reliably know how much a purchase is, so I don’t use it for this, not a big deal. Like just now it wouldn’t log me into Disqus

    • brozojl

      me too!!

    • http://www.sebastianscaramuzza.com Sebastian Scaramuzza

Same problem here. Many times I feel so frustrated I’m tempted to get back to the other pass manager I was using prior to Dashlane.

    • hilarycable

Same problem. I have to restart my computer to get it working. BUT, I still think Dashlane is the best PW manager I have ever used and I plan to stick with it.

    • http://Great-Liberal-Insights.org Rayosun

Me, too! I’m a Premium member trying to use DL on my PC with Win 7, my Mac desktop with Maverick, and my Iphone 6 and it’s discouraging when I have no idea whether DL is going to work, and when I’ve changed a P/W somewhere and DL DIDN’T SAVE MY CHANGES, and I no longer have any idea WHAT the new P/W is!!!
I used to recommend DL to friends, but can’t do so any longer.

  • withinsigthbutblind

Okay, I can’t figure out how to get things back to being alphabetical. This after messing around with options like name, last used, most used, etc.?

    • Ashley

      Hi there,

If you’re sorting by name and your passwords, for example, aren’t sorting alphabetically, then this may be a bug. If so, sorry about that.

Please help us fix it by creating a ticket for our support team here, so they have all the necessary info: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. The more details, the better. For example: are you in list or grid mode? Is it only passwords, or is it the same for notes, payments, etc.?

      We’ll get it sorted!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • http://www.kennymeyer.net/ Kenny Meyer

My only complaint, and the reason I switched to LastPass, is that Dashlane uses much more memory than LastPass. I like Dashlane’s UX more than the one of LastPass, but performance is a feature too.

    • Ashley

      Hi Kenny,

We hear you. We’re been working hard on this issue and will continue to do so. Dashlane 4 is already an improvement on this front, but expect more updates soon!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

    “Meet the all-new Dashlane
Redesigned to work beautifully on every device you own”

Unfortunately it still doesn’t work on my Linux laptop, which is a shame because I really liked Dashlane when I was only in the Windows/Mac ecosystem.

I assume the response is still that focus is still on the other platforms?

    • Ashley

      Hi Chris,

Actually πŸ™‚ We’re starting to work on the availability issues that you mentioned. I can’t share details, but our jam-packed roadmap has some exciting things coming for non-Windows/Mac users. I hope you’ll stick around and see!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • Chris White

Ooooo interesting! In that case I will stay tuned… I’d be very interested to come back over to Dashlane if I could use across all my clients.

        Thanks for the update!

      • Chris White

        Hi again Ashley,

Anymore news on this one? I’m keen to move back to Dashlane from Lastpass, but the Linux availability is the only thing stopping me. With my Dashlane subscription coming up I’m having to consider other alternatives.

        Thanks

        • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

          Hi Chris!

The work is still on-going as we juggle improvements for both our current platforms, as well as looking to support new ones. At this time, I don’t have any updates I can share publicly at this time, but I appreciate you checking back in on our progress!

As soon as we have more information that we can share, you and the rest of our Linux users will be the first to know.

We hope you’ll still consider Dashlane as your go-to password manager, and we look forward to supporting more platforms soon. πŸ™‚

          Cheers,
          Malaika

  • Sparh4wk

version 4 already and still no basic http auth support.. thats sad.. without it, your software is pretty useless for a lot of ppl… you promised it like 2-3 years ago, yet still nothing

    • Grey

I agree. Lack of htpasswd support is a deal breaker. I can’t believe Dashlane still doesn’t understand the need for this.

  • Jeremy Johnson

Would love a scripting engine so I can enable support myself for the sites that Dashlane doesn’t work with. I have submitted many, many different sites that Dashlane doesn’t support (including Paypal of all things) and I have never seen any of them ever fixed. With some kind of scripting engine I could potentially help Dashlane figure out where the form fields are and how to submit. Just extremely inconvenient when I site I log into every single day isn’t supported by Dashlane.

  • Larry Samuel

when will you support windows 10 browser and windows Phone. Will be looking for software that will!

    • Ashley

      Hi Larry,

We plan to add compatibility for Edge as soon as Windows allows plug-ins. As for Windows Phone, unfortunately, this isn’t on our roadmap. But I’ll sure to add your +1 for support. It’s quite the popular request, so hopefully this makes our roadmap soon.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

  • Alana

Hello Ashley, Thank you for all the info for those having problems with Dashlane which is essential. I am writing to let all Dashlane techs know I appreciate any and all improvements, have never had any issues and I have HP Laptop, Windows 8.1 which has never skipped a beat. I’m very satisfied with this product and I’m a Premium scriber, never paid for such a wonderful asset. I never, ever had to reboot to get Dashlane to keep working, it’s there and stays on until I close up for the night.
Again, Thank you Ashley and ALL the techs, excellent job plus more than happy to have been able to find such a useful App. Gods’ Blessings for all thru Jesus, Amen.

    • Ashley

Thanks, Alana! It’s our pleasure, and we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback! It’s great to hear, and we hope you’re enjoying the new version!

      Thanks!

    • Ashley

      Hi,

      Sorry to hear this!

If you’ve tried restarting your machine and Dashlane still isn’t working, then we’ll need our support team to investigate. You can get in touch with them here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Snarky. It seems to have worked for LastPass though, even though I would prefer to no longer be their customer due to the LogMeIn thing.

        • Ashley

          Hi there,

I can’t share the details, but we’re working on a solution to our compatibility issues. Hopefully, you’ll stay tuned!

          Thanks!
          Ashley

          • http://paulcomfort.com/ PCComf

I have Dashlane installed on my Mac and keep the passwords in it up to date with Lastpass. Once you have a Linux client or browser extension ready I’ll purchase Premium. Staying tuned in. Thanks!

  • Diogenes

Love your program and I’ve tried all of them, but the Firefox extension slows down the browser SO badly. We’ll give version 4 a try tho.

  • John Widdifield

Will Dashlane 4 be more stable in OS X than it’s current version? Like so many others on this post, Dashlane causes safari to intermittently freeze. I have uninstalled/reinstalled many times to no avail. Since so many individuals seem to have this same problem, I believe it’s safe to assume that your team should by now have experienced these same issues. Instead of fixing these issues, now Dashlane is available in 7 languages. In how many languages to you need to hear the word “disappointing” or “useless” before providing some real support.

    • Ashley

      Hi John,

Thanks for sharing your feedback, and I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such issues in Safari. We’ve put a lot of work into stability, so hopefully you’re not experiencing this with Dashlane 4. If you are, the best course of action to take is to get in touch with our support team. The more info they can gather, the better chance we have at fixing things.

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • Scott Gartner

I’m really disappointed that there seems to still be no Yubikey support. I’m getting real tired of problems with LastPass and would certainly consider DashLane, but I already have an investment in two-factor auth with Yubikeys that I would be throwing away. I frankly don’t want to have to make sure my cell phone is within reach, and charged, before I can login to a given web site. I don’t really get that, but the Yubikeys don’t run out of battery and, so far, work every time.

I saw several blog posts from over three years ago when DashLane said they had Yubikey support on their roadmap, I guess I’ll check in every once in a while to see when that comes due, but three years is a long time already…

    • Ashley

      Hi Scott,

Thanks for sharing your feedback!. We’re currently working with certain types of Yubikeys. See here:

“In order to use Two-Factor Authentication, you first need to have a YubiKey. Please note that only OTP YubiKeys (YubiKey Standard or YubiKey Nano) will work with Dashlane for now. The FIDO U2F security is not yet compatible with Dashlane.”

This support article has all the info for setup if you’re compatible: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/articles/206177031-Protect-your-account-using-Two-Factor-Authentication-with-a-Yubikey.

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • Scott Gartner

Thanks for the reply Ashley. I’ve been using Ubikeys for years so none of mine have NFC. Your current solution involves basically converting a Yubikey into a Google Authenticator token. It’s not really Yubikey support, as I understand it (why not just do Google Auth, as you still need a cell phone handy).

  • michaeleiseman

So, I can’t find a way to submit a trouble ticket…why is this hidden? I’ve looked at all the menus across the top of V4 and all of the sidebar topics. I mean I thought I would find it via HELP as a dropdown pick or *at least* within the HELP documentation. ??

    • Ashley

      Hi Michael,

Sorry about that. We certainly don’t mean to be hidden. I included a link in the blog. Here it is again: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Also, on Mac or PC, you can go to the top tool bar in the app: Help > Dashlane Help. (Or, you can press F1 on Windows.)

If you have a specific question or issue in mind, you can search on our Help Center: https://support.dashlane.com.

      Hope that helps!

      Thanks,

  • Craig von Land

I just tried this version on Android, but it appears that the login still doesn’t work on all apps. It is my banking and brokerage apps that have the strongest passwords where I really need a password manager, but those are the apps that don’t work. Too bad there is no way to associate the apps to their web passwords, or manually trigger Dashlane to pop up on these apps.

    • Ashley

      Hi Craig,

Thanks for getting in touch! I assume you’re using our Android keyboard. If it’s failing on particular apps, please create a ticket for our support team to let us know which ones (the more detail, the better): https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new.

Also, you might be interested to join our Android beta group – it’s a great community of Dashlaners who help us test the latest Android versions and find/fix issues. If so, just ask someone from our support team to send you an invite when you get in touch.

      Hope that helps!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • Edward Dean Butler

Great to have an update — but you did not tell us how to install it!

    • Ashley

      Hi Edward,

You should get the update automatically on all your devices. If it’s not come in yet, you can follow these steps:

In the top nav on PC, go to Tools > Check for updates.

In the top nav on Mac, go to Dashlane > Check for updates.

      Hope that helps!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

      • Edward Dean Butler

I still cannot figure out how to update to v 4.0. When I go to the Dashlane on my Apple MacBook Air, there is nothing about upgrading. Also, there is nothing telling me which version I have. When I go to dashlane.com there are all sorts of v 4.0 testimonials, but nothing about how to upgrade. Dashlane is a great app in concept, but I find Dashlane to be unfriendly in the user sense — developers not understanding how real people use the app. I am afraid to just re-load Dashlane for fear of losing everything (happened to me when I upgraded OS to El Capitan). I suggest you need specific upgrade instructions on the Dashlane home page.

  • Me2Straitiff

I hate to pose this question on your blog Dashlane, however, I have recently read an article stating to not store ones passwords on your desktop, that this a serious breach for security. Is my Dashlane considered a security risk in it’s present form from my pc?

    • Ashley

      Hi there –

      This is a great question!

It’s good advice to tell people not to store passwords on the desktop in Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, notes, etc. because they’re not encrypted and can be accessed by others. Even if you use a password-protected document, it still doesn’t have the same level of encryption that Dashlane uses.

But when you secure your passwords in Dashlane, they’re safe. We protect them with the strongest encryption there is, and they can only be unlocked with your Master Password – something only you know because we never store it anywhere. More details on our security can be found here: https://www.dashlane.com/security.

Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

      Thanks,
      Ashley

  • Robert S Hall

The word ‘consistent’ gets used frequently, both in your blog post and comments from your customers. You brag about consistency while your customers complain that Dashlane doesn’t work consistently. I join the customers on this. Why is it that only Dashlane on iPhone includes the Password Generator (menu) option? I frequently find myself on my iPad or PC, wanting to use the Password Generator option when creating new credentials. I’m then reminded that I can only use my iPhone for this purpose, so I end up generating on the iPhone, and (hopefully correctly) typing that new password on my PC or iPad.
To me, consistency includes every feature being available on every device.
I’d love to hear the justification for Password Generator (menu option) only being available on the iPhone version of the app!

  • Jeannie Snyder

So, will we get the update automatically or do we have to do something? Also, I would like to ask why when I try to log into my credit union on my phone it doesn’t log me in or give me the password, it always asked it I want to “add account” when this account is already added. Why is this?

    • Sue Breska

I have the same problem. It’s the only website that does this (so far) but it shouldn’t be necessary to look up the password. That’s why I have a password manager.

    • Ashley

      Hi Jeannie,

Thanks for sharing your feedback, and sorry for the issue! It’s best to share this kind of info with our support team, so they can gather the info needed to fix.

Will it ever be available for Kindle Fires again?

    • Ashley

      Hi Beth,

Thanks for your question! A native Kindle Fire app isn’t on our roadmap, but we do have plans to address our availability issues for users who aren’t on Windows, Mac, iOS or Android. We should have something for you in the coming months.

When I tried to use Dashlane for the first time, it couldn’t handle multiple gmail accounts being open in the same browser, which meant I couldn’t use it. Has this been addressed?

    • hilarycable

Heck, CHROME can’t handle multiple open Gmail accounts πŸ˜€

      • Rocky Grasso

Yes, it can. I have two gmail accounts open all the time on both my MacBook and my iPad. And to clarify, I mean on either device, or both devices at the same time, I can have the same two gmail accounts open.

    • daremosan

That seems to be fixed now. I have about 4 accounts

  • Luison Lassala

Well, that’s funny (not!). As it is not clear from your blog or website HOW to upgrade to version 4, I clicked on the link at the top of this blog: “Get Dashlane. It’s Free” to download the upgrade, but it installed the same version I had before!!! (V3.5.2).
You might want to let people know how to upgrade.

    • Ashley

Thanks for the feedback, Luison. You should get the update automatically. If you don’t…

Go the top toolbar in the app:

      – on Mac: Dashlane > Check for updates.
      – on Windows: Tools > Check for updates.

Sometimes people have trouble finding it on Mac, so note that the toolbar is at the very top of the screen. (I believe it moved there when we launched our Yosemite version).

      Anyway, hope that helps!

      Thanks,
      Ashley

I must uninstall and reinstall Dashlane way too often due browser updates. It doesn’t matter if I use Internet Explorer or Firefox. They make updates and Dashlane can’t keep up. I wish there was a way Dashlane could be pro-active so they are sure it works with the up-coming updates BEFORE they are released to the public.

    • Ashley

      Hi there,

Dashlane shouldn’t ask you to close your browser unless it’s been at least two weeks since we shipped and update, and you still haven’t restarted your computer or browser.

If that’s not the case, please get in touch with our support team to let them know. You can do so here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I really liked Dashlane until it stopping working today> my bad choice not to write down all my passwords. It is really a pain in the ass to change all my pass words just to sign in. How do I get Dashlane to pop up so I can sign in?

  • Asentrix

For the people having to reinstall dashlane, here’s the solution
Go to task manager > kill all dashlane processes (Including plugin)
Open dashlane and log back in

Your issue will be resolved , upvote so people see!

    • Clay G

Agreed. Killing the dashlane processes does get Dashlane working again without resorting to a reboot or re-install. It’s just a shame that we have to resort to this on a fairly regular basis. I’d like to see Dashlane developers put a focus on the stability and reliability of the browser extensions and Windows app.

      • Asentrix

Yep totally agreed, you can also save this as a .bat file and use it to quickly fix the issue.

        @echo off
        taskkill /F /IM dashlaneplugin.exe
        echo killed dashlane plugin…
        taskkill /F /IM dashlane.exe

  • John Widdifield

How do you obtain v. 4 for OS X?

  • Sue Breska

I scanned all of the comments but don’t see my exact issue. When I want to log into a website on my android phone, I always have to log back into Dashlane. I use the Dashlane browser but I’m continuously entering my master password every time I move to a different website. There’s a red “x” next to the Dashlane logo. What’s the reason for this or am I doing something wrong? On my laptop, once I log in, I have no issues.

    • Ashley

      Hi Sue,

Thanks for getting in touch! And thanks for scanning the comments first πŸ™‚

Unfortunately, I’m not quite sure what is causing this issue, but our support team will be able to help you with this. (They’ve got a lot more knowledge on these topics than I do.)

Here’s how to get in touch: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. The more details you share, the better. And if you have screenshots of the issue, they’re super helpful.

      Thanks!
      Ashley

    • Xavier

Hi Sue, I’m Xavier from the User Support team.
If you see a red “x” next to the Dashlane logo, that would mean you are currently signed out of your Dashlane account. It sounds like you haven’t set up a PIN for your Dashlane app on Android and have enabled one of the “Auto-lock” options in the settings. This would explain why the Dashlane Browser asks for your master password each time you try to sign in to a site.
Could you try and open the Dashlane application and sign in and set up a PIN in the application settings? This way, you can sign in more quickly. Please have a look at this page if you need more information, including the “Auto-lock” settings at the bottom: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/articles/202625332-How-to-use-a-PIN-to-open-the-Android-app

I have just upgraded to V4 and now my multiple gmail accounts won’t work any more – Dashlane only offers me one account. It worked fine before the upgrade, offering me the option to choose one my 3 gmail accounts…. Have you got a fix for this?

  • Rene Chang

    Does not work as described.

    • daremosan

has for me. Been using for 3 months and it’s great.

  • Ted Kay

Updated to version 4 – now I can’t use multiple gmail accounts. It worked fine before the update….

  • kstyrsky@yahoo.com

This is GREAT! Most of the new features are ones that I’ve wanted, hoped for and/or suggested to Dashlane. Very happy user of the app. It has made online life so much easier as well as being able to document and share emergency information with loved ones. I love software companies whose developers continue to improve their product and offer free upgrades. Way to go, Dashlane!

    • Ashley

That’s really great to hear, thank you! We appreciate your support & are glad to hear you’re enjoying the update πŸ™‚

      Thanks!

I’ve been a premium member for 3+ months and love it. I do wish it integrated better with OSx and mac desktop apps. Web works great.

    • Ashley

Thanks for your feedback! It’s always great to hear from people who are enjoying our app πŸ™‚

If you have more details on how we can integrate better on Mac, I’d be happy to hear them & share with our product team.

      Thanks!

Version 4 is the first version that still works the second day (and later) without freezing up. Thank you for fixing the bug.

    • http://simionbaws.ro SimionBaws

Now, after i imported my passwords, it’s consuming even more energy

So , unless you go premium you must enter your passwords by hand on each advice!? Also my sign in has to be from one of these accounts, making it more exposed, instead of my regular sign in which is completely unique?!

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi Dialeigh,

Dashlane Premium allows you to only enter your password once into your Dashlane account, which will then automatically log you into all the websites saved on your account. A free subscription only stores your passwords locally on your device, and will not sync with your other devices.

Secondly, your Master Password has to be unique for your account’s security. That is precisely why Dashlane asks you to create a strong, Master Password that contains a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, and a number (not necessarily in that order).

I hope this answers your question, but please let me know if we can help in anyway!

      Best,
      Malaika

    • LARRY

I see nothing to indicate you have addressed the major problem – clogging the computer to the point of obvious slowdown.

We’re sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused. Could you please provide our User Support team with more information here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

I really wanted notes on credit cards. But it it disappointing that you cannot make a note with line breaks in it and so effectively it is on a single long line of which you can only see a small part.
The list of banks in Switzerland is many years out of date SBC and the old Union Bank of Switzerland merged many years ago to make United Bank of Switzerland

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi John,

Thanks for the feedback! I’ve forwarded both of your suggestions to our Dev team, who will look into them further.

      Thanks,

Will Dashlane 4 work for me and my wife (2 users) who share several computers plus smartphones. We also share some passwords for some websites. We are retired so all activity is personal, not business. OR, would I need 2 licenses??

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi Jerry!

Great question! Dashlane’s Premium subscription will be perfect for you and your wife since you both own multiple devices. With Dashlane Premium, you can sync all of your passwords and other credentials throughout all of your devices.

With Dashlane, you can save as much personal information as you’d like, meaning you can save multiple addresses, email addresses, payment methods, IDs, passwords, etc. However, if you’d like to keep both of your information separate, perhaps it would be more convenient for you and your wife to have separate accounts. With two Premium accounts, you and your wife can always use our sharing feature to exchange your shared passwords.

Here’s more information about Dashlane Premium’s exclusive features: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/articles/202699091-What-is-Dashlane-Premium-

      Hope this answers your question!

      Best,

Does it still take over your browser and make form filling a nightmare instead of quietly hanging around in the background for when you need it? I liked the concept but ditched it because I got sick of it being so obtrusive.

  • G Knight

Do not see threads about the need to confirm the identity of the computer when using dash lane login on most sites. This persists with all subsequent logins due to the way dash lane brings you to the web site. Unwilling to perform the extra step and so go to stored web sites outside of dash lanes stored logins. Sort of defeats the purpose.

  • SugarSyncFAIL

Is it possible to import directly from an Efficient Password Manager epm file?
I tried with a previous version about a year back, and it was problematic because EPM only exports as a CSV or HTML file, and Dashlane wouldn’t import any of the Comments (ie Notes). Now that you have a Notes field it might be worth another shot, but it would be preferable if one could import directly from EPM, so as not to have to mess around with matching up all the various fields?

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi there!

At the moment, we do not have the option to import straight from an EPM file. However, we do have the option to import all your passwords and notes from a custom CSV file. Here’s an article on how to import your CSV file to your Dashlane account: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/articles/202625132-How-to-import-a-CSV-file

      Hope this was helpful!

Hi Dashlane, In your first paragraph it says “This is truly unique and puts us one step close to our mission of helping you access your passwords and manage your identity everywhere.” You might want to add an “r “to close so that you look as smart as I’m sure you are. Good luck.
    Cheers, Jesse

Any idea when Chromebook version will be available?

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi Phil!

We currently don’t have a set timeline on when Dashlane will support Chrome OS, but we’re doing our best to support the latest operating systems. Stay tuned! πŸ™‚

Since a month or so, Dashlane logs in correctly but then asks constantly if the password should be replaced. If I do so, I’ll end up with another copy of the same website/password combination. Could this be a bug?

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi Ronald!

Thanks for your feedback! I think what’s currently happening is when you sign into a website for which you already have a credential saved in Dashlane and if the password you enter is different from the one currently saved, then Dashlane will prompt you to save another copy of the same website/password combination. The same applies if you complete the “change password” process on a site manually.

To fully understand the root cause of the issue, and if this happens for you on multiple websites, I would like our User Support team to investigate this further. Could you please open a support ticket, and I’ll make sure our Support team follows up with you shortly: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

      Thanks,
      Malaika

      • Ronald Verhulst

That’s what you would think! But Dashlane logs me in correctly (so the password is there and doesn’t change) and then asks me if I want to Save (not replace) the password. I can ignore this message all the time and and it still works. But it is a bit annoying. If I choose the Save the password, I get another copy of the same website and details.I can open an ticket…

        • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

          Hi Ronald,

Sorry for the inconvenience! I’ll make sure User Support looks into this issue thoroughly. Please create a support ticket so our team can investigate further.

          Thanks,

Did keyboard shortcuts on Windows get removed to copy username/passwords? I can’t copy the password anymore using Ctrl-C and I can’t navigate to the ‘Copy / Show’ buttons using the keyboard. Am I missing a setting or shortcut somewhere?

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi!

My apologies about the delay! Our keyboard shortcuts are still available on Windows. Double check to make sure if the password you’re trying to copy is one that was shared with you with Limited Rights. If so, you will not be able to use shortcuts with a shared password.

If this isn’t the case, and if it’s affecting all of your passwords, please create a support ticket, and I’ll have our User Support team investigate further: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

  • Steen Ricks Olsen

I’m a newbie on Dashlane coming from LastPass that I have spend many many good years on.
I have spend like a month on Dashlane and have not had any mishaps til now working within the Safari browser, but I have not figured out how to work outside the browser in OS X. Is that because its not possible or is it something that I miss installing. Anybody have a bit of input?

    • http://www.dashlane.com Malaika Nicholas

      Hi Steen!

Thanks for choosing Dashlane! The best use of Dashlane on OS X will be on your browser. You can also find cool functions like Password Sharing and Password Generator on our desktop app. To date, Dashlane’s in-app login only works on iOS and Android devices, but I’ll make a note with my team and hopefully in-app login for desktop devices will become a possibility soon.

If there’s a specific function you were looking for or need help setting up, you can contact our Support team here: https://support.dashlane.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

      Thanks,
